I use heat guns quite a bit. Would only buy if you're already using these batteries in some kind of other ecosystem. Otherwise I just stick to cheap, corded guns.
Heat guns have limited life spans by design. Don't know if you can take advantage of Rigid's warranty to keep replacing it.

All tools have limited life spans, by design. Nothing lasts forever.
I miss the old butane powered one. That thing rocked. These straight battery ones are ok if you need to get a piece of heat shrink or something under a dash, and don't want to grab the extension cord, but as mentioned the 7 dollar cordered harbor freight special is superior in every other way.

I don't use heat guns. Two questions: Is 900F enough ? Is lack of temp control a drawback ?
I only need it to remove tape/stickers from boxes or vehicles. I use shrink wrap occasionally. A hair blower works for me, but afaik they don't make cordless hair dryers.
Plus, a bald man standing in line to buy a hair dryer looks really dumb...

900f will set those stickers on fire if you hold it there long enough.
Would definitely be careful using a heat gun on a vehicle.
I didn't even look at if this has temp control but temp control is useful of course. Most guns have multiple settings. low, med, high, higher, extra fan power, those types of things.
I have tried 2 Ryobi heat guns and compared to my wired one. Unless you really need battery powered, stick to wired ones. The battery ones dont get that hot, barely enough to use on heat shrink and drain batteries quickly. 2Ah may last 5-10 min. 4Ah is better. Need the 4Ah to complete a minor job.
